FC Porto, Sporting CP, and Benfica have been issued significant fines by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) due to the `improper conduct` of their supporters during matches played in the final round of the Primeira Liga championship.

The penalties stem from various incidents of fan misconduct recorded during the respective games of Portugal`s three major clubs.

FC Porto Penalties: Nearly €20,000

According to the published disciplinary list, FC Porto faces the steepest penalty, totaling nearly 20,000 euros. The breakdown of this amount is as follows:

  • €5,738 related to the use of pyrotechnics.
  • €10,200 for throwing flares onto the pitch.
  • €1,116 for insulting the referee João Pinheiro.
  • €2,754 for causing a delay in the start of the match.

Fines for Sporting CP and Benfica

The amounts levied against Sporting and Benfica were substantially lower compared to those imposed on FC Porto.

Sporting CP: Almost €11,000

The `Lions` were fined nearly 11,000 euros. This total includes:

  • €9,560 for the use of pyrotechnic devices.
  • €1,467 for offensive chants.

Benfica: Under €8,000

The behavior of Benfica fans during their match against Famalicão resulted in a fine of less than 8,000 euros for the Lisbon club.

  • €7,010 related to the use of pyrotechnic materials or explosive devices.
  • €893 for displaying a banner.
