Several Premier League clubs, including Leeds United and West Ham, have reportedly been offered the services of Roma striker Artem Dovbyk ahead of the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old Ukrainian international, who arrived at Roma for a substantial sum—estimated at £33 million (€38m) 18 months ago—is understood to be surplus to requirements under head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, as the Italian club plans a significant mid-season overhaul of its attacking lineup.
Clubs currently struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League table are naturally keen to add essential firepower during the January window. This need is particularly acute at West Ham, which frequently operates without a recognized central striker in its starting eleven.
Meanwhile, Leeds has benefited from the strong form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin recently. However, given the forward’s well-documented history of injuries, the necessity for robust squad depth remains obvious.
Dovbyk`s camp and intermediaries have been actively contacting teams across Europe to gauge interest, with four specific English clubs being approached:
Roma’s decision to move the player is driven by their pursuit of new offensive talents. The club is currently in talks regarding a deal for Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid and is also attempting to secure Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee on a loan-to-buy basis.
Despite his recent downturn in Rome, Dovbyk possesses a strong scoring record. He netted 17 goals across all competitions in his first season with Roma last term, following an impressive performance the year prior where he scored 24 goals in LaLiga for Girona. However, his stock has fallen significantly since Gasperini took command, prompting the search for a new opportunity.
Crucially for potential suitors, Roma is reportedly open to sanctioning a loan arrangement for the striker. This offers interested Premier League clubs a low-risk, high-reward option for securing much-needed attacking reinforcements.
Although the striker was also offered to Everton—a club linked through Roma’s owners, the Friedkins—sources suggest there is minimal appetite to bring Dovbyk to Merseyside at this time.
